Phase 2

Objectives

This work-package has three objectives:
•   Maintenance and consolidation of the existing dissemination and cooperation environment reached at the end of Phase I, at month 18 from the start of project

•   Extension of the span of dissemination and new promotion activities. Supported by the    EMANICS site, other web sites and other dissemination media (i.e., podcasts) but targeting    the public in general

•   Enhancement of the collaboration environment. Supported by the EMANICS site and other platforms but targeting the EMANICS participants only

Description of work

The work within this work-package is structured around three tasks, each task covering one objective:

T4.1: Maintenance and consolidation
•   Consolidation of a QoS Management portal intended to disseminate network and service management techniques driven by QoS objectives.

•   Consolidation of integration of local dissemination workflows. The initial steps will consist of collecting and organizing information from partners concerning Ph.D. thesis, papers, and projects.

•   Maintenance of EMANICS and SimpleWeb sites. Administration tasks on a daily basis and    continuing working on extending the site with additional dissemination and collaboration    tools. Maintenance of the sites includes the servers, the services and also the update of    content structures available at the end of Phase I.

•   Maintenance of other service/tools.

•   EMANICS newsletter consisting of 3 Newsletters per year including research oriented  content.

T4.2: Extended dissemination and promotion
•   Creation of other Network and Service Management portals. Based on the experience    obtained at the end of Phase I, other web portals will be promoted to disseminate network  and service management technologies.

•   Creation and integration of other types of content. This includes but is not restricted to Exam    Cram type of questionnaires, online courses, Wikipedia enhancement with Network and    Service Management related content, etc.

•   Dissemination through other media. Extension of the RSS feeds with Atoms (and maybe RDF); experimentation with video podcasts (VodCasts).

•   Improving the visibility of the EMANICS site. This aims at finding, testing and implementing    many techniques of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and monitoring the results by available tools.

•   Production of promotional / informational material of the EMANICS NoE (flyers, posters, …).T4.3: Enhanced collaboration environment

•   Implementation of different Wiki-based collaborative environments. Envisaged are one as a    Joomla module and another one in the SimpleWeb. The apparent administration, security and reliability concerns that could potentially arise will be studied and tackled.

•   Collaboration database. Consisting of an on-line database of people with their activities. The    database can be extended with more sophisticated tools for collaboration like Skype and    Skypecasts, forums, blogs etc. It should be agreed among partners what data will be made    available for public access and what for private use only.
